Walker
River Basin
An
exhaustive hydro-geologic model of the Walker River Basin
from Mason Valley downstream to Walker Lake (Figure 1) concludes
Walker Lake (Figure 2) cannot be saved by the simple addition
of water used by agriculture, and furthermore predicts negative
effects on domestic wells if irrigation is terminated. A
more acceptable solution to save Walker Lake has been proposed
(Figure 3) and additional studies are in process.
